I was born and raised in the Edmonton area. I met my wife Tammy in the faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta, where we were both working toward our physical Education degrees. After going through the University of Alberta’s nursing program, I finished my undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Recreation, with a focus on Sport and performance.
